Wedding Photography Framing Tips

Tips for Wedding Photography and Framing

I grew up believing there are a few important stages in life: graduating from college, finding your first “big kid job”, getting married, and then all the fun stuff that follows marriage. So when those steps fell into place perfectly in my life, I was over the moon! Right after getting my first big kid job post-college, my boyfriend of 3 years proposed to me. I could finally put that lengthy Pinterest board to good use.

Since I’m the baby of the family and all of my siblings had already been through wedding planning, I had plenty of help. Growing up, I remember being surrounded by wedding photos of my parents, siblings, and grandparents. So as I began planning, I knew immediately that finding a fantastic photographer was one of the most important things for me. In fact, it was the third thing I finalized.

So the question is – once you’re back to your normal routine after your wedding, what is the best way to display the hundreds of photos?

My personal favorite is a gallery wall! It’s a great way to display photos of all the people you love. Choose your favorite photography of you and your family, husband, or bridal party to display. Then mix them with action shots from the reception, like this lovely cake-in-the-face shot or your first dance.

The frames you choose for your gallery wall don’t have to all be the same. In fact, most of the time it looks best when you select frames of different sizes, textures, and styles. Here’s a tip for using our picture frames. If you love the style of a frame but the color doesn’t fit your needs, don’t be afraid to paint them! Painting the different frames all one color is a great way to take your wedding photographs and turn them into a conversation piece.

How Can Frames Be Used While You’re Still Planning?

If you stumbled on this post while you’re just beginning your wedding planning, don’t fret! You can still use our frames BEFORE you actually have the photos to put in them. Our specially crafted frames are perfect for decorating your reception. Print out your favorite love related quote or song lyric in a fancy font and frame it. Then you can place it on a table of other framed photographs of your family, your in-laws, or photos through the years of your relationship!

The latest craze right now is signature drinks. If you’re thinking of having one at your wedding, print out the recipe and stick it on the bar! This way when your guests love the drink, they know how to make it!

Framed Wedding Photos Make Great Gifts!

Use frames to gift family members the special photos from your big day for their birthdays, holidays, or just because. Something I’m going to do for my niece (who holds a special spot in my heart) when she’s older and getting married is give her this framed photo of her wearing my wedding shoes to her as her ‘something old’. I will tell her how for the entire summer leading up to my wedding she practiced her walk down the aisle for her wedding.

On your wedding day you are surrounded by not only the person you vow to cherish until your last breath, but also everyone who has shaped and molded you into the person you are. There really is no better feeling than being surrounded by love. After the buzz wears off and you go from the fantasy bubble to the real world, your wedding photos will be what brings you back to that love filled day. So don’t let those beauties get tucked away in a box and forgotten. Take the tips shared here, display them, and remember the love.

How to Choose the Right Type of Picture Frame

There is a perfect frame for every picture! Well, not really. With the plentiful options that we have to offer, we are sure you could create multiple splendid looks for your pictures and posters. However, we do understand that there could be different factors playing when choosing a picture frame like the overall theme and color of your space or it could just be a matter of personal taste – depicting the appeal you wish to create. So, just to make things simpler for you, we have a few suggestions/looks you could try out which we think work great.

  • If you have a really clean and modern image, you could make it fancy by using  gold frames and you could possibly go further by adding double layered matting with gold edgings on the side to give it a rich look.

  • For highlighting the image/poster, choosing a frame color matching any color from the image/poster also works great. This very well comes out is an image submitted to us by our customer where he has used Victorian Walnut with Gold to frame his posters. The gold lining on the inside really adds to the impact of the image. Any frame with a color from the picture and a narrow lining of a different color would work well are what we would say. Also, our Victorian Series goes well with historic pieces adding a rich look to it. ‎

  • If you want to give your posters a really modern and sleek look, you could use a narrow metal frame in glossy colors. You could either choose to add a mat or just choose to go without it to give a floating look. A narrow black metal also works well for any poster, and if the poster has darker shades, adding a thin white matting really makes it stand out.

  • For Art posters, a white frame with a clean white matting also works very well. This directs all the focus on the poster.

  • You could pick and choose different color and shapes of mats to play and see the impact on your image. If you are choosing a colored mat then revealing a portion of the print’s white border gives the illusion of a double mat. You could also go for double matting with a dark wide one as the first layer and a lighter color as the narrow second layer

  • For natural scenes and outdoor images, you could use narrow metal frames of a contrasting color to give it a modern impact. Also, our Barn Wood frames give it an unfinished an raw look if that is the theme you are playing by or you could also go with the different options of classic wooden frames and we assure you would never go wrong with those

How to Decorate your Apartment Without Nails or Screws.

There are so many sites and blogs out there dedicated to helping you decorate your first apartment or house. In fact when you do a quick google search for Decorating your first apartment you will get about 23,400,000 results to sift through.

After going through the first page of results I had an overwhelming realization that not many of those 23,400,000 results gave me something that was temporary. All of them talked about hanging frames, or screwing in mirrors or adding shelves. All of which are the perfect solutions for those that have purchased a house (we’re personally biased on the hanging frames part). However for those that are transitioning into their very first apartment, all of these tips are crap. When you’re  renting a space you don’t have the ability to screw things into the walls, add shelves, hammer in nails or even sometimes paint your walls a fun color without the risk of forfeiting your security deposit.

So what is a new renter supposed to do to turn their rented Apartment into a home?

We’ve come up with some great ways to decorate an apartment that doesn’t require nails or screws.

one of the easiest ways to decorate your apartment is with fun furniture. A funky couch or chair can really spice up a living room. For those that aren’t into having such a big purchase be the focal point of the room. Try to use pillows or blankets as a way to add color. You can get pillows with sequins or lace  or different colors the possibilities are endless.

Since we aren’t a full shop for decorating we know more about decorating with picture frames and art. The only problem is that what happens when you have a large piece of art— large frames take screws or nails.

But don’t worry you have some options, for one, if It is a frame that is not too terribly large you can purchase what we refer to as an easel mate.

The easel mate is perfect for the larger more manageable frames such as 11×14 and smaller that don’t normally come with an easel back. It screws into the back of the frame and turns  that hanging frame into a table top frame or a shelf frame.

The other option if the piece of art is too large is to have an easel mate is to use poster mounts or mounting tape. This is a mountable adhesive that allows you to hang posters and art prints to just about any surface and have it easily remove.

Apartment Mounting tape

The other option for the larger pieces is to hang it with a frame. If you are thinking how can i hang my art with a frame, didn’t you just say that large frames don’t work in apartments? You would be right, I did say that. This isn’t your normal type of frame. This frame is something called poster hangers.

apartment poster hangers

These are plastic pieces that slide on to the top and bottom of the piece and sit flatly on the wall. These poster hangers typically come with metal saw tooth that you screw into the wall but for our particular purpose that won’t work. But these can also use the poster mounts or mounting tape as a way to add some pizzazz to a piece and still not leave a mark.

So use these tips and go forth and decorate your new home but first, tell us, What are some of your apartment decorating tips that don’t require screws or nails?
