From what materials are your mouldings made?
Frame USA offers a wide
variety of mouldings in wood, BonanzaWood™
(a wood composite), extruded aluminum, and polystyrene.
|
What is BonanzaWood™?
About
9 million tons of residual wood each year … wood shavings,
chips and sawdust; formerly-wasted trim, ends and other byproducts;
post-consumer and "urban" wood, such as pallets and construction
materials … are collected, cleaned and milled to uniform-size
particles. Excess moisture is removed, and a binder is added. In
an automated, computer-controlled process, the combination is then
formed under intense heat and pressure.
BonanzaWood™, made by Framerica®,
is a solid material, with a very smooth, fine-textured surface.
It cuts like pine, and readily accepts nails and hangers. BonanzaWood™
provides the expressive finish and look of solid wood, at a fraction
of solid wood cost.

What
is polystyrene?
Polystyrene
moulding is a sturdy lightweight plastic with the remarkable resemblance
of real wood. The lower weight of polystyrene significantly lowers
your shipping costs.

What
is “wrapped moulding”?
BonanzaWood™
mouldings are covered, or wrapped, to achieve the finish and look
of solid wood. The mouldings are wrapped in one of three materials;
printed laminate, vinyl, or mica. Each of these materials has
unique properties.
Printed Laminate
High resolution printed laminates mimic the appearance of expensive
custom frame mouldings. Printed laminates offer the finish and
look of solid wood, at a fraction of solid wood cost.
Vinyl
The satin finish of vinyl gives it the appearance of mica. Its
flexibility allows it to be used in ways mica could not. Vinyl
can be imprinted with subtle textures, such as leather.
Mica
Mica is similar to the material used in desktop and countertop
surfaces. Its durable finish makes it ideal for high traffic areas
of homes and offices, and is easily cleaned with a damp cloth.
Frame USA offers mica mouldings in both satin and high gloss finishes.
