My name is Dorian Richards and I’m a new face in the customer service department. Before arriving here, I knew nothing about framing and all it entails. Once I was able to learn, it sparked my interest in things I didn’t really value before. I had a desire to frame and display what matters to me the most. Of course, that would be my family.
My first picture is a few random photos of memories that I’ve shared with them. There is never a dull moment when it comes to my family. From a grandparent showing his grandchild the art of Indian poker or your mom photo bombing your selfie, these are moments I never wanted to forget. It shows exactly what it reads at the top “Family is everything”.
My second photo is my lovely parents! This photo is something I really cherish. My mom and dad have been married more than 25 yrs. They give me something to look up to. This picture was taken on my mom’s 50th birthday. With all these great memories that I have, they are made even more special with the perfect frame. If you love your family as much as I do, I would recommend keeping these moments alive by putting them in the quality frame.
At Frame USA/Posterservice, we’re a creative bunch, and have a unique and diverse group of co-workers. We all celebrate each other’s interes
ts and talents. It’s in this spirit that we created the “Favorite Hobby” blog post; to highlight some of the special things our friends do when they’re not making, marketing or selling great picture frames. This time around we talk to our Marketing Director/Sales Manager Kelly Ackerman about what it is she loves to do when she’s away from the office.
My favorite hobby is scrapbooking, and I started in 2011.
One of my friends made a scrapbook of her and her husband’s first year of marriage to track the memories. I loved the idea, so pretty much copied it J. I’ve been scrapbooking ever, since on and off. What’s great is that I am creating and saving great memories along the way. It is easy, years later to forget some of the little stuff, but I have it saved in a scrapbook. My most memorable experience with it was Showing my husband our first complete year of marriage through pictures, quotes, and reliving our memories.
Several of my friends thought it was crazy that I was
scrapbooking, and I did too at first. I’ve been able to tap into some creativity that I didn’t even know I had. It’s been a lot of fun! It can be challenging, though. It can get pricey for sure, and it takes a lot of time. I usually try to buy materials when they are on sale to help. Most weeks I don’t have time to scrapbook at all, unfortunately. When I do have time, I usually spend several hours and put together a bunch of pages. Right now, I’m probably about 10-12 pages behind of what I want to put together.
If I had any advice to give someone interested in scrapbooking it would be this: Pick a goal! Don’t just randomly say one day that you are going to scrapbook. Choose to scrapbook something in particular and take it from there!
Every page is different depend on what I am scrapbooking. I’m not sure you can master it per se, just have fun and create unique and fun pages.

CEO Dan Regenold said about this year’s initiative, “I am truly amazed to see the number of people coming forward and getting involved with this charity. From Day 1 we could barely keep up with the contributions that help people in the area that are struggling. Our building was literally filled up with donations. Thank You to the wonderful people of Cincinnati who helped make this happen.”
#FillTheTruck is a charity and initiative of Frame USA and is classified as a 501c3 organization dedicated to serving our neighbors in need during the holiday season. This is our sixth year of operation and we are proud of partnering with six service organizations to provide personal care, hygiene items, clothes and much more. . Families will begin receiving your donations the week of Christmas. The organization, labor, trucks, and transportation have been provided in-kind in order to assure 100% of donations go to the charities.
The 2016 corporate sponsors are: Frame USA, Akers Packaging Service, AMP Frame Joining Technology of North America, AtoZ Discount Printing, Boy Scouts of America Troup 417 Glendale, Cincinnati Fit Body Boot Camp, Framerica, Heyman Talent, iHeart Media, J. If you’ve ever moved from one house or apartment to another, you know that you can fill a small U-Haul box truck with a lot of boxes. Now imagine that instead of a box truck you’ve got a 54 foot semi trailer. How many boxes of stuff do you think you could get into that thing? In 2010 the CEO of Frame USA, Dan Regenold wondered the same thing. How many boxes filled with food, household items, personal hygiene products and the like could he get onto one of those trailers to be given to local families in need. This question led to Frame USA’s “Fill The Truck” initiative and a holiday tradition was born.
There are many families who are struggling in all of our communities. Things happen–life happens. Sometimes you get knocked down and it’s hard to get back up and back to normal. While you’re trying there are still needs to be met. The Fill The Truck initiative gathers donations from both corporate sponsors and individual donors to benefit local charities who keep people’s immediate needs fulfilled while also helping them find their footing again. This year’s charities are:
Many of these charities do more than just distribute goods, they assist people with putting together budgets, finding jobs, getting other services and benefits that will help them find self-sufficiency again. What they give people lasts more than a can of green beans, it can last a lifetime. However, the green beans are needed too, because you have to eat while you’re learning how to do well at job interviews and so do your kids. Fill the Truck strives to make sure these charities have what they need to achieve their goals.
Summer time in the good ole’ USA means baseball is in full swing. And we here at Frame USA are fortunate to work in one
of the greatest baseball cities in America: Cincinnati, Ohio, the home of the Cincinnati Reds. If you’re a baseball fan, you know that the Cincinnati Reds had one of the greatest dynasties in all of sports, The Big Red Machine. In the 1970’s baseball greats such as Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, and Tony Perez (among others) came together to win five National League pennants, and two World Series titles! Wow, what an accomplishment! But I’m sure you’re asking, what does any of this have to do with picture frames?
Well, we have an equally great team in place here at Frame USA. Just call us The Big Frame Machine. Only instead of winning pennants and World Series titles, we’re working hard every day to create raving fans. Any customer who logs onto the FrameUSA.com site to purchase any of our American-made products can be sure that a lot of time and care will go into each order; you’re going to have a team full of Peter Rose’s and Joe Morgan’s in our warehouse cutting and assembling your frames, making sure each one is a winner for you. And if you’re not sure what you’re looking for, or can’t decide between one of our awesome wood or metal frames? Don’t worry, just give us a call and your own personal Johnny Bench or Tony Perez (including yours truly) will be ready and willing to get you from first to home safely. We’re always happy to interact with our fans; you’re the reason we get out of bed each morning!
At Frame USA we understand how important the photos and memories you’re looking to preserve are to you. So whether you’re purchasing a poster frame for your kid’s college dorm, buying a wooden frame for your recent family photo, or ordering a set of metal frames to decorate your new office, you can be sure that whatever you order will be a home run. Now go hop on the website and knock one out of the park. Happy shopping!
Last week for Favorite Hobby Friday, our Director of Sales, Chas Hall, was interviewed about his favorite Hobby. Since last Thursday was Thanksgiving, and we were out of the office that Friday, we are bringing you last weeks favorite hobby Friday today! We wanted to take a different spin on it and tell our customers what Frame USA’s favorite hobby is as a company.
On a monthly basis Frame USA chooses charities to support through our website as well as our retail store. We mentioned in our blog post about our November Charity of the month, Free Store Foodbank, that in September alone we donated over 1,500 to our two charities.
However our biggest charity initiative by far is Fill The Truck. Fill The Truck first started back in December of 2010 by Frame USA’s CEO, Dan Regenold. That December he had a vision to fill a 54 foot semi-truck for a local charity. He put together a team of giving coordinators to make this initiative as successful as possible in under 30 days. By the end of December, Frame USA ended up needing a second truck because they were so successful at getting donations that they over filled their semi by 7%. This equaled 833 boxes and over 30 skids equaling more than $22,200 in donations.
The truck isn’t just a means of transporting all of the donations that we get, to Dan, the truck represented hope, life and a second chance for people within his community who were down on their luck.
Since that December of 2010 Frame USA has been coordinating Fill the Truck every year. This past Tuesday, November 25, 2014, marked the beginning of the 5th Annual Fill The Truck. The best part about this charity initiative is that it isn’t just a one man show. From now until December 21st when the trucks are delivered to their respected Charities, the employees at Frame USA will have this initiative on their brains and will do everything in their power to make it as successful as possible. With that being said, Fill The Truck is a massive charity initiative that performs at hyper speed in just under 30 days. All the donations received are boxed and packed by employees donating their time.
On December 21st when we deliver the donations, we are delivering a second chance to the people in need. It is this reason that we continue to do this initiative every year, no matter the man power and time that it takes organizing.
One thing that we have learned the past 5 years that we have undertaken this challenge is that no matter how small a donation is, it can completely change someone’s life around.
Our piece of advice for all of you is that it doesn’t take a large donation of cash to make a difference in someone’s life; something as simple as a hat and glove set can mean the world to someone in need.
Stay tuned every Friday to get to know Frame USA & our employees.
Last week we posted the first part of the life hacks that we provide to our customers and as promised here is part two! We hope that these will serve you well as the holiday season approaches:
Frame USA’s Life Hacks
Life Hack #6: We offer wholesale Prices!

The only thing they have to do is fill out our B2B form. Once they are approved, they will see a brand new list of pricing for all of our products!
Life Hack #7: We make it easy to save big.
It’s safe to say that our picture frames are inexpensive high quality products, but we love our customers, so we give them numerous opportunities to purchase our products for even lower prices. The best way to stay up to date on our products is to sign up for our email newsletter. (we promise not to bombard your email with useless information) If you by chance love to see and read useless information, well you should check out and follow our social media pages. Not only do we post sales that are exclusive to our followers but we give you insight information into our company!
Life Hack #8: Have a problem? We’re just a chat away.
Just because we’re an online business, doesn’t mean that we aren’t here for you. Our team of customer service agents is here to help you solve any problems or answer any questions that may come your way about our website, or our products. On top of being a critical part of the company these agents are available via live chat (accessible on our website) to help make things easier for you, don’t hesitate to reach out them during business hours (9AM-5PM est)

You are now able to see just what stage of production your order is using our ‘Track My Order’ feature. Not only is this available for our customers that order picture frames online, we have also made it possible for customers that place orders over the phone to use this feature (ask your agent about this the next time you call in!).
Life Hack #10: We will give you 110%

The growing fad of life hacks is something that everyone no matter your age or moment in life can jump on. There have been many different names for this, but the simple explanation of it is this: Changes that you can do to make a task you’ve been assigned easier. These usually are accompanied by genius ideas that are so simple they make you hit yourself for not coming up with it on your own. The people that work at Frame USA are no different than you and your family. As consumers we know that people want things that are effortless and easy which is why life hacks have become so popular and is exactly the reason why we provide our loyal customers with life hacks! Instead of making our customers guess to the many life hacks that we have implemented we thought we would give you a compiled list that you could refer to, especially during the holiday season! We have come up with so many life hacks that we have split them up into a two part blog post.
Frame USA’s Life Hacks
Life Hack #1. We offer 24 hour shipping.
We’ve all experienced the panic of forgetting to purchase something and not realizing it until the day before. You scour the internet for the things you need only to realize the price tag associated with it would be enough to send you back to college. Frame USA isn’t like that, we have made a large selection of our picture frames, including all of our best selling picture frames, able to be shipped in 24 hours. To make your life even easier, we’ve created a page that includes all of our fast shipping series for easy picking. Life Hack #2. You can purchase mats, frame and posters all from one location
Have a party to go to, need a present for someone? We’re a one stop shop. We have combined 4 of our sites that were previously on their own so that our customers could purchase everything they need for picture framing from one location. We wanted to let you know that you don’t have to shop each website separately, if you fell in love with a poster on Posterservice and would love to make it pop with a nice mat and a picture frame that is made in the USA, well you can flip between the tabs and add each item to your shopping cart and pay for them all in one order.
Life Hack #3. You can get a custom framed piece without even leaving your home using Build-a-Frame.
We took life hack # 2 and made it even easier for you. You don’t even have to frame your items yourself; you can use our state of the art online custom framing tool called Build-a-Frame. Build-a-frame allows you to use a poster from PosterService or even upload your own picture to be used. You then will select your mats and the frame to go with it. The best part about it is that we take all of this information and give it to our custom framing experts and they create your masterpiece and ship it to you. Just look for this custom framed picture on frameusa.com and have a one-of-a-kind framed piece with a click of a button.
Life Hack #4. You can get special volume quotes right from our website.
Life Hack #5. We sell Photo Frame hangers and accessories
Picture Frames are kind of useless if you have no way to display them. What kind of company would we be if we sold our customers useless products? Not only do all our frames ship with some type of display item whether it be an easel back(E), sawtooth hanger(WH) or V-clips depending on the size and style of picture frame. (All our Picture and Poster frames list what they come with (w/), refer to the corresponding guide to decode what each letter means (E,G,M,S,WH))However if you would like to hang one of our picture frames that come with an easel, you can purchase hangers and frame accessories right from our website . As with all our Picture and Poster frames, all of our hangers and accessories are Made in the USA right here in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Stay tuned next week for Life Hacks:Frame USA Edition Part Two!
Our contest has been extended until the end of June!
A quick recap: entrants will submit their work through Instagram using the hastag, “#FrameUSA”. Artwork / photography must be original and created by the entrant. Many will enter, but only 5 will win. We will print your art for you from Instagram, frame it, and send the finished frame product with a special offer as well.
Not bad for snapping and posting a quick Instagram photo! You can also follow us on Instagram to see what our framers are up to. (Hint: it’s a lot!)
Custom retail framing is significantly different than wholesale and bulk buying. The advantage to retail, is that you get to personalize that final product every step of the way, and you get to see it on the artwork before you purchase! Instead of seeing the products separately in an online forum, you can actually stack the products, mix and match, and see it in person until you find the perfect combination for your custom framing option.
When customers walk into a store, they should make sure to bring the artwork or project with them. This will allow customers to really see what the final product will look like on the piece before they make a decision. The framer will measure out the work first to see if a ready made frame will be adequate or if a custom frame is required. Once the image size is determined the fun begins.
Mats that will really make the artwork pop are then selected from samples in the store and are placed on the artwork to help make, not only the color selection, but also decide how much of each color should be revealed. Single, double or triple, custom framing can help any customer make the best decision for the piece. Retail can also show customers real examples of v-grooves, corner cut outs, and engraving that may also be a great addition to the piece.
Once the mats are selected, the framer will then move on to choosing the frame that best compliments the matting and the project piece. Retail stores have corner samples of each moulding available, just like the mat samples. The framer will stack all of the elements directly on the piece for a realistic idea of the final product.
Finally, the framer will help select the best glazing and backing option to complete the frame. After a few days, the customer will be able to pick the fully assembled final framing project. The customer should not have to do any of the assembly themselves, unless they choose to do so. Retail is a great option for customers with little or no framing experience or for those unique framing projects. A framer will help customize and personalize the piece to really make it a treasure to be enjoyed.
Our frames can be custom sized online as well, and you can find mats at our sister site, Mat Designers. Feel free to fill out our custom quote form and we’ll get the the pricing before you buy!
