summer vacation

Summer Vacation Means Photos!

The phrase, “Summer Vacation” packs a wallop of images, emotions and memories. You can almost smell the hot dogs cooking on the grill; hear the sound of a baseball hitting a bat and the roar of a crowd at the ballpark. You think back to running through the sprinkler on the lawn to cool off. You remember sticky ice cream melting  onto your hand as you hurry to finish your cone. But if your family ever went s away from home during the summer months, that’s probably what you think of the most when you hear “Summer Vacation.”

Road trips to the grand canyon, umbrellas and loungers on the beach, poorly erected tents in the woods; the vacation could have many different faces but their was always a pattern to the whole affair . Sing-alongs in the car the first hour maybe. The license plate game, snacks and sodas. Everyone getting along. At some point the novelty of being out and about wore off and people settled back into their habits of getting on each others nerves. But always with love, and through it all, you enjoyed sharing the experience with each other. It didn’t matter if you bickered here or there, you grew closer with every little delight and disaster. And while all of this was going on, someone was snapping pictures.

Every family seems to have at least one photo bug. Before the digital age they would have a clunky old Polaroid or Kodak hung around their necks on a strap. Cajoling everyone to, “say cheese,” and click-click-clicking away at the shutter button. Afterwards when you got home they’d get their spools of film developed and meticulously sort them and put them into an album maybe, or make a collage. These moments, captured forever on a piece of photo paper, become treasured family heirlooms. The tradition of vacation photos is as strong as any holiday tradition a family observes. It’s a way to preserve those moments for future generations and for those whose memory has maybe gotten fuzzy. They’re important.

So when you want to frame your vacation pictures, a sense of style should be considered. These are not just vacation photos, these are the ones important enough to take out of the album and put on the wall. The frame you choose will impact the way the picture is viewed.

A flat fronted profile is always a good way to go. Sleek, and versatile, you can really use them in any decor, whether it’s modern, country or shabby chic. Our corporate series of frame is a great example of this.

But let’s say you want something with a little bit of pizazz. Nothing ostentatious but with a little bit of design interest. A slim frame with a rounded face and maybe one beveled channel. Our Classic series comes in Black, walnut and cherry and can give it that extra little bit of oomph you’re looking for.

Whatever you decide, hang your summer vacation photos with pride. Let them remind you of the smells of grilling and the sounds of baseball. Let them transport you to those moments where you felt wonder alongside annoyance and love.

Pie A Manager in The Face for Charity

Last week we introduced the charity for the month of July and mentioned that we had an internal event planned to help raise even more money for this great organization. The charity that we chose is a unique concept that we felt deserved a little extra. During the month of July we will be donating $0.75 for every purchase of picture frames made on our website to a program that feeds hungry children during the summer months. These children are those that would ordinarily receive reduced lunches at school.

There comes a time in an employees career where you just wish you could talk back to your boss without getting fired; well our employees got the chance last week to let out all their anger and help feed kids in the process.

Pie Charity

We gave our employees 3 chances to pie the manager of their choice in the face by giving them three ways to enter the drawing. They could donate $1 for 1 Ticket, $5 for 6 Tickets or bring in 1 Jar of Peanut Butter for 3 Tickets… and boy did our employees deliver! We gave our employees a little over a week to purchase the tickets and when it came time for the managers to get creamed we had raised $114 and received 19 jars of peanut butter to be donated to the program created by Valley Interfaith. Since the opportunity to pie your manager only comes around once in a blue moon we wanted everyone to live through our lucky employees who had their tickets chosen; One of which was a bonus, because what would a pie your manager in the face charity event be if it didn’t involve the CEO of the company! As you look at these photos consider donating $1 the next time you order one of our high quality picture frames. All charitable donations made go 100% to Valley Interfaith’s Newest program.

How Frame USA Employees Celebrate Fourth of July

In case you didn’t know, we’re pretty big fans of America. We’re an American made company that manufacturers high quality picture frames. All of our picture frames are manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio. Birthday celebrations are something that almost everyone enjoys but when it comes to the birth of this great Nation, the celebrations across the country get pretty crazy: parades, cookouts and even fireworks! So we wanted to let our customers know what our employees are doing to celebrate today for the Fourth of July.

Frame USA Employees Celebrate Fourth of July

we’ll end up grilling out and watching Independence Day for maybe the 100th time. Oh, and strawberry rhubarb cobbler will definitely be had by all.” – Erin Corley

“I’ve got tickets to see one of my all-time favorite guitar players and guitar great Steven Stills in Alexandria,,Virginia at a cool venue called the Birchmere.   Stills is part of the group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and he is incredible also as a stand alone artist.    He was also in a group called Buffalo Springfield which sang a well-known song “Stop, Hey What’s That Sound….”   He will be playing a retrospective concert of his career.   I plan to go with former Posterservice and Frame USA President Dana Gore!” – Daniel Regenold

“Typically the Kombrinck family packs up our folding chairs and finds a fireworks festival at any one of our local parks. We camp out around dusk eating funnel cakes and people-watching till the show starts. Then we sit back and watch the sky explode with color.” -Kelley Kombrinck

“we have family come to us. We have the best seats for the fourth, right in our back yard.  You see my neighbors (2) put on a fireworks display that most city or towns can’t compare too. Goes on for 2 hours. But the best part is I get to see my sister-in-law, and nephew.” – Jill Gugel

“I’ll be taking my family up to the in-laws’ house Saturday morning for blueberry scones and a parade – both annual traditions in the family. That evening, if we’re lucky with the weather, trees in our line of sight, and with my daughter’s ability to stay awake that far past her bedtime, we’ll be able to see a fireworks display from our house.” – Zach Moning

“We like to sit out at the lake and watch fireworks going off all around us.” – Anne Decker

“For me, I just love relaxing with family and friends” -Kelly Ackerman

“Family BBQ! My Uncle is from Texas and makes the best brisket I can find anywhere around!” -Mark Jungkunz

“This year my husband and I will have a BBQ in our backyard, then head to Red White & Blue Ash to watch fireworks with our twins.” -Taylor Harris

“Grill out with family in Blue Ash and then the Fireworks in blue ash and showing art on fountain square a part of Art on Vine series  the next day” -David Estep

“We go  to Brookville  In to our cabin and have our own fireworks display.” -Cathy Chapman

As you can see our employees celebrate the Fourth of July in a wide variety of ways. However you celebrate the Fourth of July always remember what the holiday is really about and remember Be Safe!!

The Peanut Butter Program

July Charity of the Month: Valley Interfaith’s Peanut Butter Program

Almost everyone knows the feeling of skipping a meal. At first you may not notice it but the second your stomach growls almost assault the person next to you, you become aware. For most, this feeling isn’t a regular feeling but rather a rather unfortunate side effect of being too busy. For some, however this feeling is one that they deal with on a daily basis.

Educators found a solution to this problem for today’s youth by providing reduced lunches to these students during the school year. They were aware that the meal they provided may be the only meal this child eats all day. These type of programs are a fantastic depiction of generosity and compassion that people have; but what happens when school is out for the summer?

The children go back to not eating, or eating very little having to share with siblings and parents until the school is back in session.

An organization thought this was unacceptable so they set out to create a program to fix it and Frame USA and Posterservice decided to help them out by choosing this program as our July Charity of the Month .

Valley Interfaith Food and Clothing center, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, created The Peanut Butter Program. The program was designed to provide children and their families with peanut butter for meals during the summer months.

This organization’s vision is to “help [their] clients break their cycle of dependency, and regain their status as productive participants in society.” The creation of The Peanut Butter Program is making them one step closer to making their vision a reality by feeding the city’s youth!

We are so passionate about this cause that we have planned an internal event that we’ve done once before with such fantastic results that we would do it again : Pie A Manager in the Face for Charity. Stay tuned next week for the full messy report, don’t worry there will be pictures!

Revamped View on Gold Picture Frames

Your thoughts about Gold Picture Frames are dependent on your generation. The younger generation, those of you that are early 20’s to mid 30’s grew up seeing gold picture frames in our grandparents houses and churches and thus have labeled them as ‘outdated’ or ‘ostentatious’. As the time comes for this generation to begin decorating their own homes they chose a style that is completely opposite, opting for more shabby chic or modern decor. For the older generation, those that are late 30’s on, have seen the value in gold picture frames from the very beginning. This generation has and always will have the right view on gold picture frames, and it’s time for everyone to have this view!

Gold Picture Frames: Revamped

The color gold is such a complex color that it’s hard to come up with one specific value to describe it, each shade and tint of the color is unique. This complexity gives our company, as a picture frame manufacturer endless possibilities when it comes to providing gold picture frames—and we take advantage of every single one.

Not only are there numerous possibilities when it comes to the color of gold, but you also have the option of choosing a shiny finish or a matte finish.

These possibilities are the reason that gold picture frames no longer are outdated or ostentatious (unless of course you want them to be).

American value Gold Picture Frame   Cambridge Gold

Frame USA offers everything from the traditional gold frames that everyone is used to seeing all the way to frames with the more muted end of the gold spectrum like our Cambridge Series.

When you purchase a gold frame from Frame USA you’re purchasing a frame that will go the distance, not fall into the trend category that will be considered out by the following week.

Whether you’re looking for a frame that will make you reminiscence about the good ole days or looking for a stylish frame to add some value to your decor, Frame USA has you covered with our great line of American Made Gold Picture Frames

Wedding Season is upon us!—Wedding Ideas with Picture Frames

Using Picture Frames on Your Wedding Day

The start of summer/end of spring marks the beginning of wedding season. There is just something about the return of beautiful flowers and plants that makes tying the knot so appealing. Weddings are a blast, who doesn’t love a night to spend with loved ones eating delicious food and dancing the night away. When you’re the one planning the wedding however, the weeks leading up to the event are filled with countless hours spent looking for the perfect venue, the best food and cake, the beautiful flowers and attire all to make your day perfect. This time is so stressful that by the end of the reception all you want to do is sleep!

With that being said the one thing that serves as a lifeline to a Bride is Pinterest.

Pinterest gives the couple the perfect outlet to find ideas when the bride or groom is one flower arrangement away from becoming bridezilla (or groomzilla!). It keeps the planners sane and organized. We thought we would give our readers some of our favorite Pinterest finds to make picture frames a part of your perfect day.

Seating Charts:

If you are looking for a inexpensive way to show your guests where to sit, lose the individual place cards and instead opt for one large frame that has where everyone is sitting. We’ve got a couple of ideas for you that we’ve found:

The other option that we have seen first hand work well. Create a basic outline of the room that shows where each table is located and then list where each person is sitting so that people know exactly what table their sitting at and where they can find it!

Decorations:

There is something beautiful about picture frame shells as decorations. There are so many ways they can be used, and in so many different wedding themes. You can’t go wrong.

Decorations that serve a purpose are the best kind of decorations. We love the idea of letting your guests know the type of drinks they can get by using a framed menu.  10649857_10152272250322484_6844616073796223897_n 1609730_10152180241597484_165841600951455848_n

Another decoration idea that serves a purpose: tell your guests who your maids and men are!

Spring Cleaning Tips

Cleaning for Spring with Ease!

April showers and flowers starting to bloom are signs that spring is here. With spring comes spring cleaning. Regardless, if you find spring cleaning enjoyable or not looking forward to it at all, here are a few tips and tricks to ease the hassle.

  • Create spring cleaning goals and a timeline

Figure out what you want to accomplish during your cleaning. For example, is it putting all your winter clothes in storage and pulling out your spring/summer wardrobe? Do you want to redecorate your kitchen or bathroom? Do you want to give your home an old fashion deep cleaning? Once you created your goals, give yourself a timeline. A realistic one! Here’s an example of a time line for someone whose goal is deep clean their home.

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
Kitchen Bathroom(s) Living Room Bedroom(s) Basement/Garage Office/Den Yard/Patio

  • Get your family involved

Take the load off yourself. If you have small kids have them take on the smaller chores (cleaning door handles, throwing things away in the pantry, separating laundry). For older kids, have them vacuum, wipe down glass, etc… Involve your partner in your spring cleaning. Have them tackle one room while you do the other. Or maybe you both can take on the kitchen, so it gets done quicker. Getting help, not only lessens the load on you but gives your family a sense of ownership when it comes to cleaning and taking care of the home.

  • Maintain your home daily

What’s the point of spending a week of cleaning and the next week, it’s back to before? Your home needs daily attention to maintain order. Take a few minutes every day to keep your home intact. Utilize the schedule in tip one, to keep up with your daily upkeep.

Decorating Tip!

Turn your picture frame into a calendar. It is a great and creative way to keep up with your cleaning schedule.

Blogger Amanda at ohamanda.com has a great tutorial how to do this. Click here for details…
